Belarusian products are on a good account in Russia and other export countries. They are famous for being natural, high-quality and very delicious. Our top 5 today include 3 desserts and 2 snacks.

  1. Zefir by Krasny Peshchevik from Bobrujsk (or any other Belarusian made Zefir). Zefir’s consistency remind marshemallow but the taste is different, with a little sourness to it. It is made mostly from apple puree, sugar and eggwhites. Average cost is less than a dollar for a package.

2. Syrok (any Belarusian brand). Syrok is a type of chocolate covered sweet cottage cheese, sometimes with a filling. It reminds a bit of the white part of a cheesecake. The cost is approximately 30 cents.

3. Chocolate by Kommunarka (or Spartak). Our personal favorite is dark chocolate with cranberry filling! The cost is less than 2 dollars.

4. This is a savory snack, Soviet style long potato chips. Usually come salty or with added flavor like mushroom and cream, greens and sour cream. The cost is 1 dollar.

5. I can’t imagine a celebration table without some of those below. Our number 5 pick is salted raw herring (type of fish). We make salads with them, we can put it in a sandwich or just cut it in bite size pieces and eat it with boiled potatoes. The ones below are made in our flagship company in Brest, Santa. The cost is 2.5 dollars.

Let us know in comments, if you would try some of those or may be you have already travelled to Belarus and have some favorites!
