Only 3 km from Brest there is a beautiful manor of the Nemtzevichi family, who were famous politicians, writers, publicists.
Julian Nemtzevich was one of the politicians who wrote the first constitution in Europe in 1791.
The Brest Peace Treaty, which ended the World War I, was signed here.
The Soviets took over this part of Belarus in 1939 and the luxurious manor was threatened to be demolished but, fortunately, it was turned into a school. Later, after 20 years of abandonment, it became a beautiful museum which can be visitied by tourists who come to Brest.
